Spring 2004: Prof. Freedman is co-chairing the APS Multi-Divisional Study of the Physics of Neutrinos. Visit their website to learn about what's in the past, present, and future for neutrino physics.

April 2004: Lindley Winslow has been awarded the Mentored Research Award presented by the Office of the President for her work in increasing "diversity in their field of study or for the greater good of California." Among other activities to promote increase in participation of underrepresented groups in physics, she has been co-coordinating the Society for Women in the Physical Sciences (SWPS) here at UC Berkeley. Congratulations Lindley, and keep up the good work!

April 2004: Karsten Heeger has been awarded the Michelson Postdoctoral Prize Lectureship at Case Western Reserve University (see also Today at Berkeley Lab). The prize is awarded annually to a junior scholar active in any field of physics upon nominations from advisors and mentors at institutions throughout the U.S. Karsten spent one week in residence at CWRU, presenting one colloquium and three seminars to the Department of Physics.

January 2004: Lindley Winslow has been elected as the chair of the Forum on Graduate Student Affairs (FGSA) of the American Physical Society. Congratulations!

March 2003: Karsten Heeger has been awarded the 2003 Dissertation in Nuclear Physics Award by the American Physical Society "for his role in the generation and analysis of the data from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, and the resulting resolution of the solar neutrino problem." Congratulations!

INT Talks online (2/19/2003): The fall program of UW's Institute for Nuclear Theory (INT-02-3) workshop was "Fundamental Symmetries and Weak Interactions". The seminar talks are available online. Check out Paul's talk on the beta-neutrino correlation and this summary of Vud measurements.

Physics 290E Seminar Announcement (1/30/2003): Prof. Freedman is leading this term's particle physics seminar. The topic is "Physics Without Getting High"; for the course announcement and list of speakers, click here.

First KamLAND Results (12/6/2002): The KamLAND collaboration is pleased to announce its first physics results in a paper appearing in the January 17 issue of PRL. See the KamLAND site for more details.
